RUSSIAN IMPERIAL 25-ROUBLES BANKNOTE OF 1909 CURRENCY
The impressive design of this banknote served as a prototype for the ornamented portrait
of Emperor Alexander III the Peacemaker, designed by Commander Valery Yegorov in January 2005, and posted on this website pages.
These banknotes circulated during the reign of Emperor Nikolai II Alexandrovich,
the elder son and successor of Emperor Alexander III Alexandrovich,
whose Coronation portrait is given to the right.
The life size of the shown banknote is 17,7 x 10,9 cm. Its value was very
high if compared with the modern world`s currencies. The Russian Imperial
25-roubles banknote of 1909 was about an equivalent to the
present-day US$ 1,250.00. Quite a fortune!
Another impressive sample of an old Russian banknote, that of 500 roubles, can
be seen on the other CHR website HERE
